Pisces Moon

I look up often, to the beautiful, and magnificent moon to see where she is in her journey across the sky, so that I will know where I am in mine, here on earth. Each phase and astrological sign that she moves into offers me very specific and very helpful guidance for when I should be in stillness, action, expansion and contraction. By aligning my life to the lunar cycle, I have found that my life moves in a more graceful and easy way—so much so, that whenever I am experiencing difficulty, I can be sure that it is because I am out of synch with lunar rhythm.

Feminine in nature, the moon travels across our night sky shining her light down upon us, governing the tidewaters of our oceans as well as the blood flow of a woman's body. She is a celestial magnet that draws us closer towards her when she is waxing (increasing her light) and gently releases us from her embrace when she is waning (decreasing her light). Hidden from view for approximately one to three nights, the dark moon occurs just after the waning moon and just before the first thin sliver of the new moon. It is a liminal time— a time that exists between moons, between worlds and between awareness.

Unseen, the realm of the dark moon is a place of the void—but this is not an empty, barren void, but rather it is a place of potent potential, possibility and rich, darkly feminine magic...and it is also place of chaos, diffusion and disorder, as this moon straddles the threshold between this world and the next, and moves between the conscious and subconscious states. The veils between realms are thin during a dark moon, and traditionally, no magic or works of manifestation are to be performed during this chaotic, unstable phase, only stillness, solitude, inwardness, ritual, visioning, dreaming, meditation and prayer.

On every dark moon, we initiate and embark upon a six-month cycle that culminates on the full moon six months later. So whatever you vision for and dream of during the dark moon, you will see the results of this when the full moon is in the same sign, six months later. If you do not experience the results, you may find indications of what you need to continue working on so that your visions, wishes and dreams materialize. Today, on March 10, 2024 the dark moon (and the Sun) will be in the sign of Pisces, and in six months (on September 17th) the full moon will also be in this sign.
