Winter Star Magic

STAR MAGIC
Celestial, or star magic is the ritual practice of energetically reaching up for the light of the stars, and then calling it down to the terrestrial plane. It is the work of reaching back in time to witness the beginning of our world, and the calling forth of the magnificence of planetary events into the present.

The calling down of sky energy has its roots in ancient times, when nature-based spirituality was most prevalent, and when people recognized the power of and had a close relationship with the earth, moon, stars, and all beings of life.

When working magically with stars, you are working with the element of fire, and the phenomenon of light and time, for all of these things were once born from a grand, silent, vacuous explosion that happened so long ago. What we now see in the night sky is the result of this explosion, and its light has been shining on for centuries, however—much of this light was extinguished long ago, and yet is still streaming towards us here on earth. This is the powerful magic of the stars that we are able to work with.

I find star magic to be one of the most spiritual, and the most reverent of all magical practices, for the stars are so very old, and have been witnessing our journey from the beginning. At its core essence, everything in our known universe is made of light and vibration...including each of us, and at the core of this vibration is the magic and the awareness that we are working with the most ancestral, original essence of all that is in existence today.

CAPRICORN STARS

There are three major stars in the Capricorn constellation; Alpha-2 Capricorni, Beta Capricorni and Omega Capricorni, which form an easily recognizable triangle in the night sky. Delta Capricorni is the brightest star in this constellation…you can find it at the very end of the goat's tail. Below is a very powerful way that you can work magically with these three stars, and further below is a list of correspondences for your Winter/Capricorm rituals and magical workings.

  • Talisman: during the hour and day of Saturn, when the sun is in the sign of Capricorn (December 22 - January 20), draw the Capricorn constellation, making the three stars mentioned above more prominent, and also draw the astrological symbol for Capricorn, and the symbol for Saturn, Capricorn's ruling planet on a small, square piece of paper, such as printer paper, cardstock, notecard or parchment. You can do this very simply, or as elaborately and artistically as you wish. The sacred, magical number for Capricorn and Saturn is 8, so you could also use an 8 x 8 piece of paper, or a piece of paper with an 8 inch circle drawn on it, or you can draw the number 8 on your smaller, square piece of paper.

On the back of the paper; write your intention as a petition to Capricorn, and to Saturn, ie: O Great Sea Goat in the sky, O Great Planet of time, karma and wisdom, I wish for assistance with (insert your intention here). Remember to ask these two celestial spirts only for that which is their realm, and governorship to assist with, ie: you wouldn't ask them for love or money, but you could ask them to help with healing yourself so that you are ready to receive love, and you could ask them for support in becoming more organized and grounded for whenever you do receive money (of any denomination, even a paycheck). Use the correspondences below to learn about what these spirits govern, and are associated with.

Once you have completed your talisman, use the anointing oil for Capricorn (recipe & instructions below) and then go deep into meditation with your intention, and the energies of Capricorn and Saturn, holding the talisman in between both of your hands, as if in prayer.

Keep your talisman with you, hidden from view in an envelope, pouch or whatever you wish, until your intention has been satisfied. Touch it often, to send your energy into it, and recite your intention to it over and over in sets of 8 (the number associated with Capricorn and Saturn), not with desperation or pleading, but more like a mantra. Look up often to the sky, speak with the stars of Capricorn, and send your energy out to them fro your heart, and breathe their energy into you. You can also recharge your talisman each time the planetary day and hour is aligned.

  • Anointing Oil; using the correspondence lists below to choose which oils to work with, blend at least three of them in a small vial, then add jojoba oil and shake gently. Place a bit upon the symbol of Capricorn that you drew on your paper talisman, and a drop on your heart, and your third eye chakras.

CAPRICORN CORRESPONDENCES

  • Dates of Power: December 22 - January 20

  • Planet: Saturn

  • Element: Earth

  • Season: Winter

  • Day: Saturday

If you are born under the sun sign of Capricorn, or have this as your ascendant, now is a special time of year, as its energies are currently very activated, amplified, intensified and strengthened within you. For those not born under this sign, its energy and magic will still affect you, and you will feel all of Capricorn’s earthly interests and soul’s intentions flowing powerfully through your life—but primarily from December 22 to January 20, rather than your entire lifetime.

The soul essence of Capricorn is to be the light in the world that pierces the figurative mists, parts the veil and clears the way for the dispelling of illusion, so that profound transformation can be experienced, and the higher truths can be revealed.Capricorn is a very driven, deeply purposeful and objective/purpose-driven energy, as well as having an incredibly organized and attentive nature—which are all wonderful qualities to work with in January, as this is the month for setting intentions, planning out the new year and organizing your life in general.

Capricorn’s core life lesson is the right use of finances, along with everything having to do with prosperity, abundance and wealth, and so for all of us during the month of January, we can work with the Capricorn drive, organization and attentiveness skills to get our financial affairs in order, set abundance goals for the year, create savings plans for the immediate—and far off future, as well as to pay close attention during this month to your relationship with money, heal any wounds that you may have around receiving, and set this year up for success.
